Dear Linkers,
It's Slip Slap Slop time again.
At this time of the year it is common for Government departments to be
understaffed so whilst our Solar Weather Stations
(http://www.ips.gov.au/Space_Weather) are all apparently suffering
holiday-itis or extreme cloud cover on event days, and those that are
not appear to have their web pages accidentally stuck on "No Warning"
(probably due to inadequate funding [N.B.: see I am on topic]); could I
suggest a back up (indicator only) might be:

Of course Willyweather certainly isn't up to the NOAA standards, nor
what the IPS standards should be with adequate funding, but might just
give you a good idea of when to get behind two sheets of thick glass (if
you don't want to get headaches, Nausea and other toilet related
indications of - ? sunburn ?).
A small reminder that Goes 13 went dark last Sep and Goes 14 and 15 are
not exactly aligned for best observation of Australian conditions.
Although Goes 15 can see Bondi Beach <grin>

And.. Remember even with the SMS service - at the speed of light,
X-rays, gamma rays and other forms of energy will tend to arrive within
7 minutes of the SMS (as long as you are not using Opus in which case -
probably arrived 24 hours before the SMS.).
