Thanks for the heads up, Linda. Will keep an eye out. They may just
be address scraping from other sources or buying lists. Not a good
strategy, but if their take-up rate is low, they may be desparate.

Speaking of spam, a friend sent me one that made it through a couple
layers of filters to his gmail account. It was an odd one, typical
bad spelling and punctuation, but the really nasty part of it was
that it added something to his gmail calendar function. And the only
way to remove it was to decline the invitation, which is like
shooting a flare to say this is a legitimate address. He had no
choice but to do something, so I believe he said he deleted it and
then went to change some setting on his account.

Anyway, keep an eye out for this effect.

Oh, and gmail has now added a Promotions so they can send you
unsolicited adverts in emails. There was an article on Huffington
Post yesterday about how to get rid of that tab, but instead you get
inserted lines of adverts. They are in control, so they will get at
you one way or the other.
