The advantage of using a TV/desktop computer monitor is that you can
have a much larger screen, than the handheld device used on the sofa.
Also you can have mains power at the desktop, a keyboard, mouse and room
for a phone, printer and paperwork.
I am considering a similar design for shared offices, small meeting
rooms and flexible learning spaces. The idea is to have a larger than
usual computer monitor on a small desk against a wall. One person can
sit at the desk and use the screen close up, or a group can sit further
back and share the screen.
