Totally, indeed, and as we see.

One great book (of many) that comes to mind about this very point---that
NSA, et al, are a gang of criminal spooks---which is specific to
Australia, littered with troves of evidence of dodgy doings, is one
called 'Rooted In Secrecy -- The Clandestine Element in Australian
Politics'.

And the great thing is, it was written in the 1980s! So that only adds
for extra sobering effect considering how far things have progressed
unabated.

For example, the best bits I like is evidence of ASIO *supporting* and
*protecting* terrorist groups such as the Croatian Ustaše by safely
trafficking them into Australia...
