Except that the big cost is digging up the roads and footpaths and laying
fibre; the electronic box on the consumer end is relatively minor and
pretty ephemeral over the lifetime of the fibre infrastructure.  However,
I'm all in favour of any "design change" that could sound significant if it
helps get the fibre in the ground.  Not trying to be cynical....just
practical.
