I think that Hollywood has an awful lot to answer for with regard to the 
view that a fingerprint can be safely used as an authenticator.

There is much evidence out in the wild to show how easy most forms of 
fingerprint reader are to defeat (even myth-busters did an episode on it).

An identifier? perhaps; an authenticator? never.
