Sometimes the internet (hmm, it seems our world is now beyond the proper noun 'Internet') .. anyway .. although a senior cit.. sometimes the net, and people, still surprise you. For eg .. Hot Chips and a link there-in ..
Hot Chips http://www.abc.net.au/hotchips
(Quote) In May 1995, this web site claimed a tiny place in history. Hot Chips was the first Australian television or radio program to go public with a web site. The success of this site played a major role in the ABC's decision to launch the ABC On-Line service that we have today.
Although there are no plans for another series of Hot Chips, we've decided to leave the site on-line as a benchmark for future historians. When our final series finished in August 1995, the world still possessed only a handful of TV shows with web sites. Haven't things changed!
Neat places to visit ... and clicking here takes you to http://www.blackstump.com.au which STILL WORKS and seems just as fascinating as it must have been in 1995 .. the ancient days of the ABC Hot Chips television series.
And ... back then the ABC said the following about the Blackstump.com.au site .. and omg .. it still applies today.
"Peter Garriga- Beyond the Black Stump This site is exceptional value. Peter is a computer professional who has developed his site as a kind of hobby. He maintains a heap of terrrific links. In fact we wish we'd found some of them ourselves! This site is highly recommended."
Have a peek at the Blackstump .. apparently it's still the work of just the one person .. who doesn't accept ads.
What more can one say?
Cheers,
Stephen
