You've absolutely nailed Clare, Andy.

An utter snake-oil, teflon-skin merchant.

I was waiting for my turn before a Senate Committee a while back, and an armada of AGD, AFP and ASIO senior execs was at the table.

The redoubtable AGD DepSec, I-don't-need-to-be-a-mere-liar Anna Harmer, was holding court, bailing the other lesser execs out of their quandaries.

Clare deClared his admiration for her answers.  Twice, even.

And unfortunately he wasn't joking, because that's what he aspires to.
