That might be stupid in an ordinary household, but the principle is a
very good and interesting idea to people who have to maintain a lot of
light bulbs. Just one lecture theatre in a University might have three
hundred bulbs of various types, for example. Or consider a hospital or
similar large institution - the bulb count is in the tens of thousands.
For such enterprises, bulbs that let you know when they blow - or even
better, before they blow - is a great idea.
