Of course that's until your GPS receiver drives into a signal dead-spot or loses the thread altogether in a built-up area like a city. Or the controlling nation switches it off during an international emergency, or their enemy manages to disable it, or hackers get into it (what a target!)...
Call me a cynic, but I think it's just another technology looking for a market. Unfortunately that doesn't necessarily mean it won't become a reality.
