They're here! Some trucks in WA mines have no driver on-board. There are 
drivers, but they're thousands of kilometres away, working in 
air-conditioned safety. The trucks mostly drive themselves. Experience 
is that the robots are much more precise in vehicle placement. That 
actually causes problems because wear tends to be more concentrated.

The trucks use radar, lidar and sonar, in addition to computer vision. 
Their situational perception is better than any human. Situational 
awareness (if a computer can truly be said to be aware) is a 
work-in-progress.
