[LINK] Canberra Drones Onwards

Google Wings' drone experiments around the Canberra region are moving on
again.

They started in an area of 5-acre-blocks 15km south, moved to a far
southern suburb, and are now moving to a far northern suburb.

One interpretation is that they've finally found a warehouse they can
work from, and need to trial use in a suburb near the warehouse.
Another is that they keep wearing out their welcome, and depend on
general inquisitiveness to avoid bad press.

Note that the company appears to be continuing to enjoy an almost
completely free hand, with the pseudo-regulatory agency CASA suspending
prettymuch all of the normal safety requirements.

I haven't invested the necessary time to search for the instrument that
grants them the exemptions, although searches at casa.gov.au find
nothing on <Alphabet> or <Project Wing>. (It's becoming increasingly
normal in Australia for pseudo-regulatory agencies to suppress important
documents).

Aside: The primary supplier of goods for delivery, Mexican fast food
chain Guzman y Gomez, has been in the news for illegal behaviour:
