While driving to canberra a couple of weeks ago, there was an
interesting discussion about the role of the driver in self driving
vehicles.
The problem is when it gets too hard the vehicle hands back
resposibility to the driver. The problem is the delay in the driver
realising the car has done this, then assessing the situation and acting.
So, the suggestion is that you have driver assist or driverless
vehicles. I understand the problem is the road laws do not permit this.
