[LINK] New ACT Library system "spydus"

The new ACT library system is a platform called spydus (a name which does not inspire confidence in privacy).  Apparently other libraries use this.

The new privacy statement:

They now store a history of all the books you have borrowed.  It's not clear how or if you can clear that history or have it not stored.

Their privacy statement says they can release:

> 	• Libraries ACT may share de-identified data (that is, data excluding names, addresses and any personally identifying information) with third parties (e.g. ACT Government Directorates or library system vendors) for reporting or analytical purposes, or use raw data sets for testing and other purposes.


We all know how protective of privacy de-identified data is.

If your library information is released to a third party, will they inform you?  It's not clear from the statement.

> 	• Except to lessen or prevent a threat to life, health or safety of an individual, or public health and safety, Libraries ACT will only disclose personal information or information about a library member’s account or use of the library to authorities, such as the police, when a formal request is made and a search warrant or court order is provided.
