Having completed a couple of TAFE certificates, I see them as 
complementary to my university studies, not an alternative. In a 
submission to the Senate inquiry on the Future of Work and Workers, I 
suggested students should go to TAFE and then consider university:

Open/distance learning and the virtual campus can improve Australia 
higher educaiton. The approach I am taking is to design online courses, 
and then add as much classroom activity as required, and resources 
allow.
