Communication, teamwork and other generic skills are the current mantra
at universities. But this is not exactly new. I was updating my notes
for helping teach in the ANU Techlauncher program, and realized I have
been doing it for eight years. On Thursday 200 student listened to
clients pitch their projects, then formed teams to implement them. There
are also about 40 interns working in companies and government agencies.
The ANU Computer Science and IT building now has "The Hive", the ground
floor of one wing set up like an industry co-working space, where teams
can work, in the open plan space, and use the meeting rooms. It features
