Update on my rant from a few weeks ago and this particular example.
What a strange evening. They took all of our orders on bits of paper,
eventually, then brought them out over about a 30 minute period, then at
the end as we were individually leaving, we gave the person who
organised the evening cash to cover our portion to cover the bill.
3 days later, as I had left earlier than the rest of our group that
night, I asked her how things went. She said, there wasn't a total so I
just gave them all the cash. I didn't understand what she was saying, so
I asked her to explain what "no total" meant. She said that they did not
give her a total bill, just a list of all the things that were ordered
and supplied. No explanation. I think my friend was just over it. Who
knows if we paid too much, too little, or just right. The only thing we
could figure out is that they couldn't deal with a party of 15 (several
didn't come of our original party) and the manager was away. There were
3 servers, all quite young looking, and someone else cooking in the
kitchen. The food was excellent. Their accountants must curse them.
This was no little restaurant. It's quite well known in Beaconsfield and
highly recommended. The food was fine, excellent starters.
It was weirdly extremely LOW tech!
