West Australia already has a 280 km automated cargo conveyor, carry 
28,000 tonnes, called a "train".

That train is diesel, but another mine in WA is purchasing battery 
powered locomotives which will not require external power. The energy 
from a full train running downhill to the port will be stored in a 
battery, and used to push the empty train back up to the mine:

A semi-autonomous road train is also being tested. This has a driver in 
the front truck, and driver-less ones follow it:
