That is how warfare is conducted. Back in the analog age in WWII Germany 
planned to destabilize UK's financial system by printing counterfeit 
Pound notes and dropping them from the air:

Radio Free Europe was set up to broadcast pro-western propaganda in 
1949, and the USSR attempted to jam transmissions. RFI is still 
operating, but the jamming stopped in 1988:

We now have digital versions of these forms of economic and information 
warfare. Australia could do with a considerable boost in its Cyber 
Warfare Division in this area.
