In any case the unfriendly countries seem to be doing a fine job of getting our personal data for nothing.

I wonder when the combined effects of worrying about hacking & spying, an inability to distinguish the output of AI bots from human-authors, insecure personal data, disillusionment with the advertising avalanche, and social harm generally will result in a a radically different internet.
