The most common usage of tok bokis at the Lutheran Church College at Banz was with reference to the New Testament parables.

But it was also the common term for toksaves or statements and sayings when someone didn't want to be too direct or offensive. Example: Instead of blaming someone to have stolen kaukau from his garden, he would use a tok bokis 'I gat sampela rat i stap namel long yumi. Olsem nau mi sot long kaukau.'

According to THE JACARANDA DICTIONARY AND GRAMMAR OF MELANESIAN LANGUAGE 'tok bokis' = a secret language.
