Birua can also mean 'harm by violence' or 'killing by physical violence'; 
by extension it can refer to death in a vehicle accident or some other 
accident.
When I was doing some research into injuries 'birua' was often used to 
refer the injury incident itself, even when no human agent inflicted it. 
Thus a fall from a tree could be 'birua' - although it might well infer the 
agent was an unknown sorcerer.
