Hi,

I have also found the following:

I beleive that "antap" comes from the english "on top" and is
used exactly that way.

ie: "Pisin i sindaun antap long diwai", and the example given
above for "ples antap" would more correctly "the place up
there" which depending on the context could and most likely
would refer to a place/village on the mountain, that is higher
that the speaker is currently.

This is just my opinion as a native tok pisin speaker with 30+
years of speaking the language in Mt Hagen, Mendi, Lae, Wewak,
and Port Moresby and districts.
