Binatang, 'insects' is also commonly  (especially those going into crops) in W.H.P. (Tambul). At least it was in '97-'99 when I was there. It is also occasionally used  to describe somebody who relies too much on others (esp. for eating) - where we may use the word "parasite".

I just looked up the word for centipede (plantihan) and noticed that the
term binatang 'insect' is not included in the Mihalic list. Have other
come across the term? It is commonly used in Bougainville.
