[Mihalic] Re: "Maski / maskile"

Re the maski etymology timeline, I recently sent recording from my  
mfieldwork with speakers of Rabaul Creole German to students in  
Germany. I had remembered the use of maski, but Friedel Frowein has  
noticed "maskile" as well. I wonder if this could be "maski" plus  the  
south German diminutive "le" (although that suffix wasn't recorded  
elsewhere? RCG had its genesis at the end of the 19th century, and the  
older speaker being recorded was trying to use as early a form of the  
language as he could remember. Certainly, his speech would reflect  
pre-WWII use.
