I just noticed that Marilyn Strathern's
1975. No Money on Our Skins: Hagen Migrants in Port Moresby, New Guinea
Research Bulletin No. 61. Port Moresby/Canberra, New Guinea Research Unit,
The Australian National University.
has a useful page and a bit of glossary of TP terms based (mainly?) on
Hagener's usage in Port Moresby in the early 1970s ...(pp.451-2)
two examples
baim balus: lit. to buy a plane (ticket); cash gifts made to a departing
worker or visitor, incl. money for his fare.
..
fulwok: unremitting labour; heavy task imposed on someone who is thereby
duped or tricked.
