short features from the ANU's Southeast Asia Centre and South & West Asia
Centre.

* New initiatives in in-country language study: Indonesia, Thailand, India.
* Dr Mikihiro Moriyama's award from the Japan Society for the Promotion of
   Science: a personal report.
* Singing in Sanskrit and kick-boxing in Thai.
