Implementation of Supporting our Staff - General Staff

Dear Colleagues

As you are aware, the University has introduced a new scheme for reviewing
General Staff performance.

You may be familiar with the old procedure called the Career Performance
Development Review Scheme (CPDS). This has been the mechanism the
University has used over the last 3 years to review General Staff
performance.

The CPDS has now been replaced by a new procedure Supporting Our Staff:
http://info.anu.edu.au/hr/Training_and_Development/_SoS_Interface_Page.asp.
The process, language and forms have been more closely aligned to the
academic process. It is a comprehensive and more transparent system aimed
at achieving performance excellence and clearly defining expectations
between supervisors and their staff. One of the major differences between
the schemes for noting is that General Staff performance must be reviewed on
an annual basis.

The College values the contribution General Staff make to the achievement of
our goals and aims. We aim to provide an environment that enables and
encourages all staff to optimise their contribution to the College and the
University. This scheme will ensure that staff are assisted with personal
and professional development and provided with feedback in relation to their
individual performance. Therefore, I request your assistance in
implementing the new scheme and ensuring performance reviews are conducted
for General Staff.

The College has set a deadline for all General staff Statement of
Expectations to be initiated and returned to our local Human Resources
Office by the 1 July each year. Although it is not mandatory, I would also
encourage the six monthly review to follow up a staff member's progress and
to address any issues that may arise.

If you are a supervisor or General Staff member, you will be receiving an
e-mail shortly from our local Human Resources Officer with information
regarding the process, forms and timelines. A training session will also be
provided in the future.

Many thanks

Robin Jeffrey
