Dear friends and colleagues of the Pacific Institute
On behalf of the Pacific Studies program in the School of Culture, History and Language I would like to invite you to an informal lunch with Professor Gilbert Herdt and newly arrived Pacific Studies Artist in Residence, Carl Pao.
When: 12.30. Wednesday, July 18.
Where: Graduate Lounge, Fellows Bar
Professor Herdt is Gilbert Herdt is a cultural anthropologist, Professor of Human Sexuality Studies and Anthropology, Founder of the Department of
Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University, and Founder of the National Sexuality Resource Center (NSRC) in the United States. He is currently at the ANU as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow in the School of Culture, History and Language in conjunction with the Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship Project Engendering Persons, Transforming Things held by Professor Margaret Jolly.
Carl F.K. Pao is an Aboriginal Hawaiian artist and educator, teaching visual arts at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu. His work has been displayed at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC and is featured in the new Hawaiian Halls at the Bishop Museum. Carl is the inaugural recipient of the Pacific Studies Artist in Residence program at ANU. During his residency Carl will be engaging with National Institutions as well as conducting a number of student/community workshops and public talks.
