All welcome to this seminar by the Hon. Patrick Nisira, Vice-President of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. Mr Nisira will speak on the topic of "Leadership Challenges for an Autonomous Government" in the Bougainville context.
Patrick Nisira was elected to Parliament in 2007 in the seat of Halia (Buka Island, North Bougainville) as an independent. He served as Minister for Works, Transport and Civil Aviation from 2007-2010 in the government led by Presidents James Tanis and Joseph Kabui. Following the 2010 general elections, Patrick Nisira was appointed Vice President in the second Autonomous Bougainville Government led by former PNG Deputy Prime Minister and Ambassador to China, John Momis. Patrick Nisira was one of only nine MPs re-elected in 2010 (the Bougainville Assembly has 41 members), and the only former Minister to retain a place in Momis' cabinet. In a cabinet reshuffle in September 2014, he was moved from the Health portfolio to become Minister for Police and Corrections.
Refreshments will be served following the seminar.
All welcome but registration essential. To register, click here<https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/vice-president-patrick-nisira-leadership-challenges-for-an-autonomous-government-tickets-14438190015>.
