This workshop addresses transformations in Papua New Guinea's Village Courts system in the nearly 40 years since their inception, as well as the quasilegal and extralegal dispute management systems with which the Village Courts now articulate. Researchers on a three-year project funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council will present preliminary findings from their case studies for the project, to be followed by feedback from our invited discussants and from our audience.
