This is an invitation to all interested Honours and Postgraduate students, and early career researchers and teachers, in an informal master class with Professor Terrence Wesley-Smith, Center for Pacific Islands Studies, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. A few readings by Prof. Wesley-Smith will be emailed to interested participants.

Time: 10am – 1pm
Terence Wesley-Smith is Professor and Director, Center for Pacific Islands Studies, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He is editor of The Contemporary Pacific: a Journal of Island Affairs, and co-editor (with Jon Goss) of Remaking Area Studies; Teaching and Learning Across Asia and the Pacific (University of Hawaii Press, 2010). He is the author of several articles about Pacific Studies, including "Rethinking Pacific Islands Studies" (1995), "The Ocean in Me" (2004), and Rethinking Pacific Studies Twenty Years On" (forthcoming). Professor Wesley-Smith teaches about contemporary issues in the Pacific Islands region, with a particular focus on development, the impact of globalization, the political economy of mining in Papua New Guinea, as well as the emerging role of China.
