[ANU Pacific.Institute] West Papuan events in Sydney during December

The West Papua Womens Office (FRWP) warmly invites you to the launch of the Sampari Art Exhibition and Sale for West Papua on Friday 4 December 2015 : 6-8pm at the ACU Art Gallery, 26 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.

You are also welcome to the other events that we are hosting in the gallery during the exhibition (see below, and attached). For instance, the writers session on 5 December with Bruce Pascoe, a well-known Aboriginal writer, who has written the only fiction about West Papua. Ruby-eyed Coucal is now out of print but Bruce is bringing two boxes (he found in his garage) to sign and sell. It will make a unique Christmas present for one of your friends. Or the Mt Carstensz Forum on 12 December which is attracting a lot of notice, as Tim Jarvis is climbing Mt Carstensz right now (to send a message to the Climate Change conference in Paris) and is sending a message from the summit to our Forum as well.

We need people to vote in the People's Choice Award for the best artwork in the exhibition, as there is a $150 prize. Maybe you need to come down for the week. On 30 Nov we are putting a Honai outside the Indon Consulate in Queens Rd. People are sleeping there overnight, and raising the flag at dawn on 1 Dec.
