Dear ANU Pacific and Southeast Asia Institute members,
Please be advised of the following upcoming event:
Community mining in Eastern Indonesia, livelihood benefits, and environmental impacts: Manganese farmers in West Timor and rivers of gold in Sulawesi
Date: Wednesday 6 September
Time: 12.30-1.30pm
Venue: Fenner Seminar Room, Fenner Building #141
Presented by: Fenner School of Environment and Society
In addition to the Public Lecture at the Fenner School 6th September, 12:30-1:30, on artisanal mining in eastern Indonesia, Rohan Fisher, who will be visiting from the Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods (RIEL) at CDU, is keen to demonstrate 3D modelling of fire that can be used for research, teaching and capacity building. He is also interested in talking to those interested in Open Access GIS for capacity building in developing countries, particularly SIDS - with relevance to those working in landscape ecology, landuse change and public health.
Please see the attached flyer for full event details.
Kind regards,
Sam
