>From Monday 29 June to Wednesday 1 July 2020 ANU’s Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs will host the 9th Biennial Oceanic Conference on International Studies (OCIS). This event will be directly followed by the ANU Department of Pacific Affairs’ (DPA) biennial State of the Pacific Conference, on Thursday 2 July and Friday 3 July.
DPA is pleased to invite scholars from Pacific Island Countries to apply for one of ten full scholarships to attend both conferences at the Australian National University in Canberra.
To apply for a scholarship scholars from Pacific Island Countries must submit a proposal for an OCIS paper or panel, including a 200 word abstract, and then apply for the scholarship separately.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the quality of the OCIS paper/panel proposal and its relevance to DPA’s research agenda<https://anu.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5c3e8299402715ff001eee187&id=64a4fd3541&e=978c61f860>. Those who receive scholarships will likely be invited to speak at the State of the Pacific conference.
Awardees will be hosted by DPA for the duration of both conferences. DPA will provide a letter of invitation for visa purposes and will book flights and accommodation for awardees.
About the Oceanic Conference on International Studies
OCIS is the premier conference on international studies held in Australasia. It brings together scholars working across all fields of international studies, and is known for its relaxed yet intellectually stimulating atmosphere. Attended by leading scholars in the field internationally, it is an opportunity for junior scholars to take advantage of and to showcase their evolving ideas. About State of the Pacific
A biennial Pacific Research Program flagship event, the State of the Pacific conference brings together leading academics, policymakers, business leaders, civil society representatives and the media to present on, discuss and debate current issues of interest concerning the Pacific Islands region. SOTP2020 will involve presentation of new research and analysis from DPA scholars and a number of other eminent figures and scholars from the Pacific. It will generate discussion on the factors shaping the forward-looking research agenda on the Pacific Islands region.
