The email below mentions two events in Brisbane which may be of interest to Pacific Institute members. The first is a talk by Prof David Robie and the second is a two-day-long event. Both deal with media freedom in Melanesia.
Amanda :)

Subject: Melanesian Media Freedom Forum Pre-Conference: Free Registratrion
Dear colleagues

Date: Monday, 28 October
Time: 5.30pm for 6:00pm start to 8.00pm
Location: Griffith University, Southbank Campus SO6_2.02 (The Ship Inn)
Register: Monday, 21 October, through the link at https://www.griffith.edu.au/learning-futures/service-learning/events-and-innovation/melanesian-media-freedom-forum/pre-conference-keynote-address
Thank you to SBS’s Stefan Armbruster, who is assisting with organising and who alerted me to this opportunity. Please share details with others who may be interested.
The Melanesian Media Freedom Forum itself will be held on 11-12 November. You’ll need to act fast if you want to submit an abstract to deliver a paper, as the deadline is on 21 October. Presenters have the opportunity to rewrite their paper for consideration for publication in Pacific Journalism Review. See details at https://www.griffith.edu.au/learning-futures/service-learning/events-and-innovation/melanesian-media-freedom-forum
