There are parallels in the ways rural communities in eastern Australia and island Papua New Guinea experience and anticipate the impact of global change on their forest environments. About the Speaker:

Dr Patrick Guinness teaches anthropology and development studies at The Australian National University. He has done substantial research in Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea, and is presently preparing a book on the impact of oil palm cultivation in West New Britain, PNG.
