<p class="MsoNormal">I wanted to share the link to the newly published <i><u>Well-being In Vanuatu</u></i> report with those that were not able to be at the launch event yesterday and that may be interested in the topic of well-being, particularly in a Melanesian
context. This report is the work of several years of planning, fieldwork, data processing and analysis following the 2016 Mini Census. It attempts to look at well-being more holistically, framing it around topics of

<p class="MsoNormal">Today, we can see that some of the indicators developed in the pilot study from 2010-2012 have become key monitoring and evaluation indicators for the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP), securing their collection through 2030. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The VNSO has been in the process of transitioning the well-being indicators from a donor-funded project to an initiative fully supported by the Vanuatu Government under the VNSO for several years now. Evidence in this regard is found in
the creation of a new position within the existing structure over a year ago--Statistician responsible for the culture and justice sectors located in the Social and Environment Statistics Unit at VNSO. Mrs. Juline Tarsong is the new focal point for the well-being
initiative at the VNSO which no longer has a "Project Coordinator" as of June 1st 2021. I will remain as the Transition Advisor through the end of May 2022. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The VNSO has entered into a final funded phase which will see the establishment of methods and standards for well-being data collection in Vanuatu. The final phase will continue to support the good work of the Vanuatu Indigenous Land Defense
Desk (VILDD), particularly the work of the Well-being Officer, Ms Fevie Rina Siehi, also copied on this email. The outreach that VILDD does is truly important and keeps dialogue on emerging issues in Vanuatu communities focused and rooted in cultural values.
The final phase will also work to support the data management needs of the culture sector in particular, towards a cultural information management system that meets the needs of those that are tasked with preserving and promoting cultural diversity and the
arts, as well as those with functions that require reporting against national and even international goals. <o:p></o:p></p>
