Apologies for cross-postings.... the mailing list will be fixed after the AGM.

ANU Sailing Club Annual General Meeting

The club AGM is TONIGHT (Tuesday 18th) at 8pm at the clubhouse. It will be preceded by a FREE BBQ from 7:30. Come along and support your club.

Membership Renewals

To hire boats you now need a stamped 2003 Membership Card. You can renew during business hours at the SRA office or at club events such as the AGM or from 12-5 on Sunday 23rd at the club.

Tuross Coast Trip (29-30 March)

What is the Tuross Trip?

The plan is to go down to the coast with some boats, windsurfers, bodyboards and even a kite surfer to camp at a beachside caravan park. With the ocean as well as sheltered lakes Tuross is a great spot for sailing, windsurfing, surfing or just hanging out on the beach. The weekend is a great chance for the clubs new members to meet each other and therefore be willing to go away to regattas and other events with people they know. There is no need to have any sailing experience, in fact from past experience many of those who go will spend the whole weekend at the beach and not even go near the lake.

What will it cost?

The club will pay the cost of petrol to get to Tuross and back. We may also subsidise some food and drink - last year we put on a BBQ on the Saturday night.

Therefore the weekend will cost approx $10 per night (tentsite) as well as whatever you eat or drink over the weekend.

What if I can't make the whole weekend?

At this stage there are some drivers leaving Friday, some Saturday morning and some returning Saturday night so there should be somebody with a car to match up with your needs.

How many people are going?

Last year 20 people went, most of whom were new members. This year it looks like we'll have between 20 and 30.

What do I need to bring?

You should bring warm clothes, sleeping bag, airmattress/sleeping mat, food, money and if you have it things like tents, sailing gear, torches, beach gear, body boards etc. If you don't have a sleeping bag/mat either borrow one from a friend or you can hire from the ANU Mountaineering Club for just
$7. If there are any problems with getting this contact me.

Further info for people who want to go.

If you are interested and can attend email me the below information. This is so that we can book the required number of campsites, make sure there are
enough tents and match up people who need a lift with people with cars.

1) When would you prefer to leave?
- Friday afternoon (please give an earliest departure time).
- 7:30 am Saturday morning.

2) Do you have a tent and if so how many people will it fit comfortably?

3) Do you have a car which can go to the coast and if so please give details such as model, how many people it will fit and if it is able to tow boat trailers.

Uni Champs (Easter 19th-22nd April 03)

Put these dates in your diary because this is something that every ANUSC member should get involved with. The ANUSC is hosting the regatta so there is no travel and we are borrowing boats for everybody who wants a chance to compete.

What are the Uni Champs?

The uni champs are an annual regatta where universities get together to sail and socialise. Like all university sport the aim is to concentrate on the
social activities as well as the racing to make it fun for all standards of sailor.

Do I need to be a good sailor?

To compete and have fun you don't need sailing experience because we can match you as a crew for an experienced sailor.

Of course to win you will need to be a good sailor.
