Hi all,

As advertised a little while ago Todd Loydell has organised for ANUSC members to crew on a 43" Yacht in winter series racing on Sydney Harbor. The winter series is held each Saturday until the end of August. Each week Todd will need 4 crew members who are willing to travel to Sydney to compete in the race. To keep the group as consistant as possible everyone will need to be able to attend at least 3 races (thats 1 Saturday a month). While sailing skill is preferable 1 or 2 of the 4 crewmembers each week can have little or no sailing experience. Non-sailors will not just be going for a cruise and will still be expected to help out by moving around the boat to balance it and pulling in ropes as necessary. Given that it is a 43" Yacht and on Sydney harbour you will stay dry and comfortable. Inorder to satisfy both students who work weekends and those who want to party some weeks will involve driving to Sydney and back on the Saturday and others spending the whole weekend there. The major cost is a share of petrol (no idea but my guess is $20-30 each as no boats to tow and just day bags), possibly a small contribution for race fees and of course accomadation when staying overnight (in other words its a very cheap way to sail on a 43" Yacht).
