ANUSC Pittwater big boat sailing trip, 27 29 October 2006.
The ANU Sailing Club is pleased to offer members the chance to sail in Australias answer to the Med and Caribbean combined, the glorious Pittwater. Just north of Sydney at the mouth of the Hawkesbury River, Pittwater is all that the Harbour was before settlement, with none of the dioxins to boot. Sailing will take place in as many ANUSC boats as may be brought, as well as two yachts resident in the area and loosely affiliated with the club, 30 Alberg 30 Kalitsah and 55 Tayana 55 Medusa. Both boats are well presented and ocean proven liveaboards, offering club members the different experience of keel boat sailing.
Camping sites will be booked at The Basin at Coasters Retreat, a beautiful spot in the Ku-rin-gai National Park where access is by boat only. Full facilities are available to campers.
The weather in these parts in late October is always perfect and water temperature warm.
As well as offering ideal sailing, the area is also great for bushwalking, swimming and general well being.
Kalitsah and Medusa carry first-aid and medical supplies, and will act as rescue vessels when necessary during all sailing activities.
