Hello ANU Sailing Club members,
I would like to send my apologies at not having typed up and actioned
the meeting minutes, including the new committee list.
I hope to do this over the next few days. It turns out that work can be
quite a lot of, well, work.
1. We are planning a social event soon, I hope you can consider coming
along before winter sets in (and in Canberra, it really does!)
2. I would like to say a very big thank you to the handful of people
that came along to the working bee several weeks ago. I arrived early
to make a start and had to leave early, and when I returned the shed
looked much much better, especially the bar area and the change rooms.
3. As I mentioned at the meeting, the ANUSRA helped us with a visit
(Randall Star and Alex Sumpter) and gave me some frank and fearless
advice about what we need to be aiming for as a club in the modern Uni
Sport environment at ANU. I gave a bit of a speech at the last meeting
and I will try to write up the major points in the meeting minutes as
above.
4. I have reports that the computer is going well regards signing in
and out. It is important to use the logbook (electronic or otherwise)
and thank you to those members who take this seriously. It is both a
safety protocol and a measure of usage with is vital for grant money.
5. I would like to audit the email lists as we have about 350 emails on
the system, which seems to be a few too many. I'm open to suggestions
on how to perform this in the least disruptive way. I don't want to
action a few hundred "yes I'm here" emails, and dumping the lot and
starting again would work but seems a bit drastic.
6. I was contacted by the neighbouring Canberra Rowing Club regards
their female members using the ANUSC shower in the mornings (since they
only have male facilities). The committee agreed to allow such use
subject to appropriate ANUSRA and ANUSC membership.
7. A big thank you to Garrick Larkin who led the organisation of
another flawless trip to Tuross Heads several weeks ago. The
cooperation with the ANUMC is also much appreciated.
8. Finally it's great to see the Commodore and Treasurer out there
leading our sailors with ANU colours at various NSW sailing events!
Thanks for reading.
Kurt
