[ANU Sailing Club] Sports Council Elections

Hi all,
 
This week is the ANU Sports Council Elections. The Sports Council is the Board of Directors for the ANU Sports and Recreation Association (SRA) and provides the majority of the Sailing Club's funding.

It is important that the SRA has fair and reasonable Council members who will make decisions without pandering to special interest groups at the expense of clubs like the Sailing Club. While nobody from the Sailing Club is running this year given I served on the Council during 2007 and 2008 I am recommending three nominees (you can vote for up to 6).

    
- Tom Gleeson (is a member of the ANU Mountaineering Club and understands outdoors clubs like the Sailing Club).
- Neil Parsons (a long serving council member who has been a member of many clubs including sailing and I believe has the best interests of all students, members and clubs at heart).
- Peter McCullagh (a long serving council member who has no club affiliations and I believe has the best interests of all students, members and clubs at heart).

I think that having these three candidates on the council will help to ensure that the SRA is run well and that the interests of clubs like the Sailing Club that don't happen to have a member on the Council are protected.



The turn out for these elections is terrible with only 20-50 votes out of thousands of eligible members. All students and full members of the SRA are eligible, so this is one election where every vote counts!


Voting will occur in the SRA building (the gym at ANU) during the following times: 
  
 Tuesday 24 March:  10.00am – 2.00pm and 5.00pm – 7.00pm 
 Wednesday 25 March 10.00am – 2.00pm and 5.00pm – 7.00pm 
 Thursday 26 March  10.00am – 2.00pm and 5.00pm – 7.00pm
