Hi Sailors,
Some of our boats are down the coast this weekend, but there's still boats
in the shed, ready to sail.
*1. This Weekend at the Shed - Saturday and Sunday
2. Sharpie Sailing: Easter Weekend and Bateman's Bay regatta
*
*3. Australian University Fleet Racing Regatta - Sydney - 13-15 April (join
the ANU Sailing Team)
4. Bateman's Bay Regatta - 21-22 April*
*5. New Committee: What do they do?*
*6. Renewed your membership
7. Club Polo shirts
8. Midweek sailing
*
*1. This Week at the Shed - Tuesday and Wednesday: 5pm*
Adam will be opening the shed this Saturday, 12-4pm and Tom will be opening
the shed on Sunday, 1-4pm. Of the general use lasers only Red Arrow and
Clementine are available, the two racing boats are also available for those
who have been approved by a committee member. Graysar is also available for
those who can rig and want to sail a Tasar.
*2. Sharpie Sailing: Easter Weekend and Bateman's Bay regatta*
Fancy sailing the blue sharpie? We're looking for a complete team of
sharpie sailors. Adam is kindly offering to help show you the ropes and
rigs when he heads out over the Easter weekend. Whilst Grant has offered to
do the same services down at the Bateman's Bay regatta in mid-April. Since
neither will actually be in the boat we're looking for at least two
experienced Sharpie sailors. Although there may be a space for one Sharpie
novice (but experienced sailor). Let me know if you're interested. Sharpies
are great fun to sail - an opportunity not to be missed.
*3. Australian University Sailing Association Fleet Racing Regatta, Royal
Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Sydney, 13-15 April*
Join the ANU Sailing Team training squad group for this major national
student sailing event (NB: this is open to alumni). Contact Andrew, our
former secretary, or Alex, our race secretary, if you're interested.

2012 Australian University Fleet Racing Regatta will be held thisyear
at RPAYC in Pittwater from the 13th to the 15th of April. The event is open
to current uni students and anyone who has been to university. Sailors are
also camping at the basin to keep the social atmosphere going and the
Organisers are having a Cruise on Saturday night as well. This was very
successful in all the prior fleet racing regattas we have had. It will be
an extremely well run regatta and great race training opportunity."

*4. Bateman's Bay Regatta*
This is the traditional end-of-season regatta for the Canberra, NSW south-coast
district. For more information: http://bbsc.org.au/anzac_regatta_2012
*5. New Committee: What do they do?*
I've been asked for a brief lowdown on the responsibilities of the new
committee so you know who to contact about what.
1. Nick Scroxton: Commodore
Overall in charge of the running of the club
2. Adam Leavesley: Captain of boats
In charge of the fleet and also takes charge when the Commodore is not
around - contact Adam if there are missing or broken bits of boats
3. Krystina Cerna: Secretary
In charge of membership enquiries
4. Etienne Mergues: Treasurer
In charge of the cash (unfortunately you have to go through the committee
first, so you can't just bribe him with cake)
5. Alex Minovich: Race Secretary
In charge of racing teams - contact Alex if you are interested in the
Regattas we are going to
6. Mal Cumpston: Assistant Secretary
Mainly helps Krystina out, but also a useful committee member for times of
need!
7. Vince Cheng: Publicity Officer
In charge of our website
8. Werner Koch: Social Secretary
In charge of making sure we stay in contact over the season and
close-season, and keeping the freezer well stocked with sausages!
9. Eva Papp: Clubhouse Officer
In charge of the maintenance of the shed: contact Eva if there's
maintenance that needs to be done in the shed, lightbulbs, new toilet roll
etc etc.
10. Jennie Mallela: Powerboat Officer
In charge of the powerboat, the person to go to if you're interested in
getting your powerboat license
11. Tom Meumann: Training Officer
In charge of setting up our Beginner's and Intermediate courses throughout
the year
12. Windsurf Office: Shaun Yeoh
In charge of the Windsurfs
13. Glen Seely: Sharpie Captain
In charge of organising crews for Sharpie sailing and coordinating with
Adam over Sharpie maintenance
It is still possible to elect non-constitution committee posts, so if you
still fancy a position on the committee then let me know. In particular
we're still looking for an Assistant Captain of Boats and an Assistant
Training Officer.
*6. Renewed your membership*?
If you joined last year, now's the time to renew membership as you are no
longer signed-up members! Go to: h

memberships will cover you for most of the next season)
*7. Club polo shirts*
The new club polo shirts have arrived and they look great - but they won't
be around forever. Email me back if you would like one.
*8. Midweek sailing*
With the clocks going back, sailing in the evenings becomes tricky. Sunset
will be at 6:00pm from next week and will carry on getting earlier. You
must be off the water by sunset as the boats don't have lights. This means
that in order to get any sailing done you would need to get down to the
shed at 3 or so. 4 latest. As a result we do not formally open the boatshed
during the week once the clocks change. However, if there is a group of
sailors (three, four people or more) who are able to get down early and do
want to carry on sailing, then let me know and we can sort out the loaning
of a key.
That's all for now,
Nick Scroxton
ANUSC Commodore
