Ahoy Sailors,

The weather is getting warmer and the wind windier, so its almost time for
the new sailing season! The opening of the season is going to be quite
gradual for us due to various work and unigames commitments towards the end
of the month. Anyway, the water doesn't start getting warm until the
beginning of October. So: here's what's up and coming:!

1) Shed Opening:
Shed opening is likely to be the first weekend in October, it's a long
weekend, 6th/7th/8th so lots of opportunity to sail then. With the
beginner's course starting on the Sunday. A shed opening party will likely
be on the Saturday we reckon - but subject to confirmation.

2) Beginner's Course: We still have places left on the beginner's course
this new season. It'll be Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings through
October. If you are interested or have any friends who might be interested,
let them know, and get them to contact our training officer Tom Meumann. (
tmeumann at gmail.com)

3) Twilights: Don't start until the clocks go back. So the first Tuesday
Twilights for the less experienced sailors will be on the 9th of October.
Wednesday Twilights for the more experienced sailors won't start until the
24th.

4) Sharpie Sailing: Sharpies are our flagship boat the moment. They're
three man boats, go really quickly and a hell of a lot of fun! We're
looking to put together two sharpie crews this year. Ideally we want about
ten sailors who can commit to Saturday afternoons for the sailing season.
That way we can rotate through crews and people are able to take days off
when necessary. You'll need to have some good sailing experience, but we'll
have good captains on the boats, so Sharpie experience is not necessary.
Training will be provided! More details in an email coming soon, or you can
contact Glen Seeley for more information. (Glen.Seeley at amsa.gov.au)

5) Other shed openings: There may well be a few shed openings this month
and will be advertised if they happen. In particular, the UniGames team
will be looking for some practice competition before they set off to
Adelaide, more details to come soon.

There'll be a few more emails coming over the next few weeks as we ramp up
towards a new season!

Cheers,
Nick
