Canadian Studies Grants for Academics and Post-Graduate Students in
Australia and New Zealand

The Canadian High Commission in Canberra administers the Government
of Canada's Canadian Studies Program in Australia and New Zealand.
The Canadian Studies Program aims to develop a better knowledge and
understanding of Canada by providing support for the development of
teaching, research and publications about Canada in tertiary institutions.
1. Canada-Asia-Pacific Award in Canadian Studies (CAPA): To undertake
short-term research, including collaborative research, contributing
to the understanding of bilateral and multilateral relations between
Canada and the Asia-Pacific Region. Deadline: 15 November
2. Program for International Research Linkages (PIRL): To promote and
facilitate international collaborative research between research
teams from Canada and one or more countries where Canadian Studies
are represented. Deadline: 15 November
3. ICCS International Summer Seminar in Canadian Studies: This annual
five-day, bilingual seminar, limited to 20 participants worldwide,
combines oral presentations by academics or practitioners, discussion
groups, and visits to major cultural and political sites in Ottawa.
Deadline: 15 April
4. ACSANZ Postgraduate Travel Award: To encourage postgraduate
students in Australia and New Zealand to include Canada in their
thesis topics. Up to five grants are offered each year to enable
students to carry our short research trips to Canada. NOTE: Grants
are NOT made to enable students to pursue courses of study at a
Canadian university nor for the sole purpose of attending a
conference or seminar or to present a paper. Deadline: 30 September
5. ICCS Graduate Students Scholarship: To enable postgraduate
students to undertake thesis-related research on Canada, at a
Canadian university or research site, for 4-6 weeks.
NOTE: Grants are NOT made to enable students to pursue courses of
study at a Canadian university nor for the sole purpose of attending
a conference or seminar or to present a paper. Deadline: 15 November
6. ICCS Canadian Studies Academic Internship Program: To enable young
Canadian and foreign academics to undertake 1-3 month teaching or
research internships at a Canadian or foreign university with a
Canadian Studies program. Applicants must have completed a doctoral
thesis on a topic primarily related to Canada. Deadline: 15 November
7. ACSANZ Canadian Cultural/Academic Personalities Exchange Program
(CPEP): ACSANZ members may apply for travel grants to support a
speaking tour by a distinguished Canadian speaker. Deadline:
