Dear AQUA Colleagues

The 2nd September deadline is fast approaching for the submission deadline to the Fall AGU. If you undertake palaeoclimate research in the southern hemisphere please consider presenting your latest research at the Fall 2010 AGU session as it will be an ideal venue to showcase your work to northern hemisphere colleagues:

Sponsor: Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology
Co-sponsors: Global Environmental Change

Invited speakers: Giff Miller, Paul Baker, Christa Placzek, Peter Kershaw

This session directly deals with climate forcing of the southern hemisphere in the late Quaternary with a special emphasis on the last glacial cycle. In particular this session aims to draw together researchers tackling the nature and causes of regional variation in climate trends and palaeoenvironments within the southern hemisphere in relation to the evolving global monsoon and westerly wind systems. We encourage the presentation of continuous and discontinuous terrestrial palaeoclimatic archives using multiple proxies and palaeoclimate proxies that are linked to developing palaeosynoptic conditions over the last glacial cycle.

Abstract submission closes on the 2nd September 2010. We look forward to seeing you at AGU and hearing about your research.

Best wishes

Tim Cohen (Macquarie University, Australia)
Jan-Hendrik May (University of Wollongong, Australia)
