In my experience, it's a lot easier to teach Linux than most people
expect. Actually installing it is the big step - because Windows almost
universally comes pre-installed, people are not used to installing
operating systems any more. In 95% of cases, booting off a suitable USB
and following the bouncing ball gets you a working Linux box first
time.

As for the rest, it's really just about remembering a few new icons to
run email programs, word processor, spreadsheets, browsers, video
players and suchlike. For the most part things are far more similar to
their Windows counterparts than they are different. With KDE
especially.
