Hello,
1. Molonglo Catchment Group bird ID field days, Saturday 14 November and
Saturday 21 November
The Molonglo Catchment Group is holding two field days on how to improve
your property for native birds as part of the Sustainability on Small
Farms project funded by the Australian Government's Caring for our
Country program. Nicki Taws from Greening Australia will provide tips
for identifying birds by sight and call, the significance of the
presence or absence of different species and what you can do to improve
the habitat on your property for native birds.
Date: Saturday 14th November and Saturday the 21st November
Time: 8:00am - 10:00am approx.
Location: 14 November: 52 Galvins Creek Road, Rossi and 21 November : 32
McDonald Road, Royalla Station Country Estate
What to bring: Binoculars if you have them, sturdy walking shoes, hat,
sunscreen, drinking water, and jacket. Morning tea will be provided.

2. The Seed Squad reforms
Mark Jones, GA's seed bank coordinator, is looking for volunteers to
collect native seed during December. Mark will be heading out in the GA
mini-bus each Wednesday leading up to Christmas and also on two
Saturdays. Possible destinations include the Lower Cotter Catchment and
some nature reserves around Canberra. If you are interested in learning
how to collect native seed, please contact Mark directly. N.B. Mark is
away until Monday 30 November but you are welcome to email him in the
meantime.
When? Each Wednesday in December (2 December, 9 December, 16 December,
23 December) PLUS Saturday 5 December and Saturday 19 December
What time? The 11-seater mini-bus will depart GA's community nursery
(Kubura Place, Aranda) at 9:00am each time, returning by 12:30pm
What to bring/wear? Hat, sunscreen, long sleeves, long pants, sturdy
shoes, water bottle. Morning tea will be provided.

3. TransGrid Seed Challenge
Greening Australia and TransGrid are looking for volunteers to take up
the challenge to seed 10,000 tubestock for the 2010 planting season in
the Southern Tablelands.
When? Sunday 6 December
What time? 10:00am to 12:00noon, followed by lunch
Where? TransGrid nursery, Perry Street, Yass
How to get there from Canberra? As you enter Yass on Yass Valley Way,
turn left into Grand Junction Rd, go through a roundabout heading
towards Wee Jasper, then turn right into Perry Street. TransGrid is at
the end of Perry Street. Look for GA directional signs. Alternatively,
an 11-seater mini-bus will be leaving the Greening Australia nursery in
Kubura Place, Aranda at 9:00am sharp. RSVP essential for bus seats.

4. Exit Haydn, enter Sarah
Haydn will be taking leave from December for about six months to explore
Australia. Sarah Essex will be joining the GA team in early December to
coordinate the volunteer events program in Haydn's absence. Please
