unidentified palynomorph

Dear Aqua-listers,

I have attached two .jpg images of an unknown palynomorph ('redfootball')
that I am having trouble indentifying. The occurrence of 'redfootball' is
correlated with charcoal in the post-European sediment of a Button Grass
(Gymnoschoenus sphaerocephalus) swamp on the Kings Tableland (in the Blue
Mts to the west of Sydney).

The longest axis of 'redfootball' is 37 microns and the shorter axis is 25.
It appears to be periporate (with larger pores on the poles: see at about 7
o'clock on the second image). In some cases a small protusion appears from
one of the poles (more suggestive of a fungal spore?).

If anyone recognises 'redfootball' I would be grateful if you could drop me
an email.

Scott.
